LAN Of The Damned XXVII - The Aftermath

Added 11 October 2012, 8:22 PM
The LAN went very well on the weekend, we actually had more people in attendance than were registered.
The arcade machine built by Paul Hayward was very popular. Congratulations to TheOnlyDJ who was the clear winner of the arcade tournament and received a USB arcade controller and shiny trophy.
The benchmarking comp prompted some fierce competition as well as a few blue screens lol. Badger was looking good for the win until WhiteShadow came out of nowhere with a big score. Congrats for his win and receipt of the 2000MHz DDR3 thanks to Super Billing.
We had a heap of entries for the Team Fortress 2 tournament. Although the admin team tried to put up a good fight, we didn't get very far lol. We displayed the final of the tournament on the big projecter so everyone could enjoy the action. Congratulations to Team Shit for their win. They received copies of Darksiders 2 from THQ, some free passes for laser skirmish from Laser Strike and shiny medals.
We also had a good showing for the Unreal Tournament 2004 tournament and some fierce fighting. After a Last Man Standing final the winner was Kasheem. Due to his new status as an event admin however the prizes went to runner up TheOnlyDJ. He received 8gig DDR3 and a copy of Darksiders 2 as well as the coveted shiny trophy.
Congratulations also to FR33L4NC3D for winning the Xbox Halo Reach tournament and receiving a $50 EB Games voucher and a shiny trophy.

Additionally we had a surprise visit from a photographer from The Warrnambool Standard newspaper who snapped a few shots of Benno9911 for an article about the event in Mondays paper.

We'd like to thank Multicomm, Laserstrike, Billion, Super Billing, Centre Com, Mittoni and THQ for all the great prizes we had to give away at the event including networking gear and games such as Dawn of War 2 Retribution, Assassins Creed, Dirt Showdown and Deus Ex: Human Revolution.

Thanks also to Pinky's Pizza for supplying discounted pizza for the event, and to Aussie Broadband for setting us up with an internet connection.

Photos from the event are available in our photo gallery

Feedback on the event can be left on our forums in the aftermath thread
